Old Week - Class Project
Today, an old project I did in City College up in SB. I used our mats from the dojo floor as a blue screen. Super lame, but completed and earned an A in less than a half hour. Nice.

Old Week - Reel
This was my reel when I left City College. Some gems in there that I haven't seen since I cut this for my film class. Out takes of Austin almost cracking up. Nice.

Dang! + Footage
These photos are all from when Austin stayed over here a while back, but there are some gems and just random sequences that never got to be shown. This is kinda like stop-motion for skateboarding. Well, it is. Thanks again to Austin for shooting all this stuff. I had fun editing it all. Good times.

Carson Mell & Grant Falardeau + Short
This short film is mind blowing. Recently, his stuff was exhibited at a local festival called Community Shorts, and it was just great to see tons of super funny short films and skits and comedy on a big screen with free drinks and great company. I realize that I have a knack for run-ons, so I'll just stop now.
Stop whatever you are doing right now, and watch this.

Living with Garret + Short
Sterling Bartlett is my roommate, which means that he has to endure Scotti Goldberg, which is bad enough... and now this? Thanks to Jeremy Cannon, who came up with this idea with me, Sterling, Evan Weinerman for shooting this, and Josh Upsidedown Hughes.

Beat on the Brat + Footage
Austin got punked on his birthday. A few of us guys felt it was necessary to teach him a lesson or two in how to have a load of fun. Austin just turned 26, and I couldn't be more stoked to be his kid brother. After we kicked his ass with his own airsoft arsenal, we tied him up, kidnapped him up to the mountains, made him consume a beer or two, hotdogs, and good stories.
We had so much fun, it should be illegal... Oh yeah, it kinda was.

BIRTHDAY COHORTS! + FOOTY!!!
Finally, the time has come. The birthday extravaganza video that you were to drunk to realize was actually going on the internet. You should have not acted such a fool, but you did. Which leaves me no choice but to slander your good names in public. Have fun watching yourself make a punkass of yourself. HAH! no, seriously, I had the best time, thanks to all those who decided to come out and have a birthday jam for Sterling and I. We love you all!

Pray for Murph
YO.
My dog Murphy was recently paralyzed for an unknown reason. He started limping, and by the time he was at the vet, he had lost control of his hind limbs. He's chillin in his bed at home, but we don't know what will happen. The best case scenario will be Murph in a sick wheelchair, which would only make him cuter. Keep him in your thoughts. Thanks.

Look Out + Set
Franks new recordings coming soon.
We spent today, which was arguably the hottest day since yesterday, in a white, blinding room surrounded by coasters and other found art. I was super excited to watch them record a grip of songs. Ryan was there workin on the equipment, and it sounded really tight. Sarah's fingers almost fell off. After working on the photos from the shoot, my computer crashed. I still have the files, but the work is gone. Who wants to re-do something they already did? Not me. That's why when they ask, "If you could do it all again" questions, I always say, "no thanks", let's just keep moving forward shall we?

Monome
I don't really know much about Monome, but it seems to be a multi-purpose pad with the capabilities of a sample pad. Check it out, I would really love to get one of these. I guess the guy makes them by hand and sells different models, employing a different amount of buttons. This looks and sounds amazing.

Conjoined Birthday Jam + Footage
So if you didn't know by now, on May 17th, the cool place to be is right here....
The Franks are being kind enough to grace us with their presence along with The Jacks. Frank and Jack... hmmmm. Anyway, beer will flow like wine, and women will flock like the salmon of Capistrano. So do yourself a favor and find me on the space, or the book, and rsvp yo.
Here's a pre-visual experience of what it may be like at the party.

Beto Sesh + Footage
Beto came down to my house for coachella, and then we went skating. He claims to be washed up because he "couldn't land" this trick. He lands it over 20 times to try to get it perfect anyway. Get ready for some drama...

"X Marks the Box" + Footage
This morning, the mailman - aka, future trumpet player for the band "Mi Corazon" - walked up to my porch and left somewhat of a mystery box behind for me to be boggled by. I have no idea who sent this to me. I've tried handwriting analysis, secret coded messages, google maps, and straight up tearing the box apart. No clue whatsoever. If you sent me this, let me know so I know who to thank.
Here's what I DO know:
1. There are short, white, dog hairs in the lacquer coating, so this person probably has a white dog.
2. There is a long brown hair behind the coating as well, so whoever it is has long (10"-14") hair.
3. The word "FISHERIES" has been altered to say, "FISHIES" - which doesn't give me any clues, I just think that's hilarious.
4. A pencil-drawn bunny eating a blue easter egg with a spoon and fork is also hilarious.
5. When I googled the address, I was directed to a Yoga Instructor... Hmmmm.

Do Work
I've had this idea to match the top of frame with the bottom of frame in two different layers of video for quite some time now, and finally did a ten second test with Sterling yesterday. Imagine the possibilities. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check this out. I've written this out as an entire story for some sort of music video, and I guess, it's going to be harder than I thought. It doesn't match up all the time, but I kinda like that. I'm not one to preemptively give away my ideas, but this just seemed like something y'all would be interested in.

Parisienne People
Like it or not, cigarettes are cool. If you don't think so, check out these old commercials that were done for Parisienne People cigarettes - which I have never even heard of. From what I've gathered, P.P. (not that P.P.) cigarettes let the directors do whatever they wanted. They didn't even have to mention smoking, or the brand name in the commercial. Brilliant. So now check out what David Lynch, the Cohen brothers, Polanski, Godard, and more had to say on the subject.

Kung Wu Rap + Footage
Sterling wouldn't let on unless it played in the car, or he saw a Wu tat on someone, but this kid loves Wu Tang. Exhibit A: GZA Liquid Swords. (wasted son)

So Jeremy and I watched 300. It was pretty funny. Well, I mean good. You know. It was amusing. Jeremy tends to disagree with me about film...
Thanks Jeremy.
Thanks Jeremy.

Game of Skate + Footage
Playing Skate, or Horse, or whatever has been the standard for judging who is the best since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. In middle school, we used to just sit outside and challenge each other to games of skate to see who was the best in the school. Sterling and I play for a different reason, to get much needed exercise, deal with frustration of life, and get better at skateboarding... In no way do we have any competition between us. We just play for fun. I want to make it very clear that we just do it for fun, and not to see who's the best. I mean, who cares about that kind of stuff anyway..

Grand Array
I like to surround myself with people who inspire me to the point of pissing me off. When my brother would make a website that I couldn't understand how it was done, or how he got it to do what it was doing, I was just pissed. When I go to art shows, I'm usually looking at and judging the way that the person did their work, and to some extent, asking myself if I think I could have done that. Let's just put it this way. Grand Array pisses me off.
Hannah Stouffer came up this last weekend to open her new show. Check out the website, you'll see she doesn't have any trouble getting work. She's having an art show in Long Beach for the next month, and then one up in LA coming up. Really sick stuff. Go check it out. I liked it enough to get it tattooed on me, so I guess you could say that if you don't like it, then stop asking for me to take my shirt off (LC).
Here's a flickr set of the show. Enjoy.

Another Day in the Hood + Footage
Another day in the hood indeed. Sterling got an Anti Hero Pew 40-cover. Now he can drink at the spots. Shortly after this was filmed, I found 6 Hollow-Point rounds for a 38 caliber revolver in the dryer rattling around. Sometimes I just take a deep breath and realize that even a trip to the washer could kill you. I guess that's just how my hood rolls. Enjoy.

Ashley's Dream + Footage
Going through old tapes, and found this gem. Ashley is talking about a dream she had where she killed some guy. You can't see anything, cause it's so dark, but I think it's still worth putting up. "I'm gonna cut your head off in three seconds." (Please don't kill me for putting this up Ashley.)

Here's one he did by himself though.

If You See..
If you see a guy walking around with black curly hair and a broken nose, flip him off, spit on him and tell him he deserved it. Don't pull a knife unless you are willing to suffer the consequences.
